Lyrics
[Verse 1 - Matt, Male Singing]
Left Tennessee at four with T,
Two boats and somewhere else to be.
Eleven swore we'd find a view;
Her confidence would have to do.
I found a brake check full of trucks,
The scenery was falling rocks.
Big Mike's steak, then barely sleep,
A fine arrangement, nice and cheap.
Mushy stayed sick; T came with me,
We worked the mats above the weeds.
Green-pumpkin Brush Hogs, red-flake shine,
Twelve keeper largemouth, five-minute time.
My hat blew off; we called it lunch,
Then slept like we'd accomplished much.
No supper, just a cabin snore,
That's what we bought four days off for.
[Chorus - Male Trio Singing, Female Harmony]
Other than that, we had a real good time,
Don't let the wreckage spoil the pretty shoreline.
Smile for the picture, keep the broken stuff out,
Give 'em something nice to write home about.
Crooked Hooker floated, so we stayed on track,
Lost a little more than we could carry back.
Guntersville, we love you, you expensive little brat,
The weekend went just perfect...
Other than that.
[Verse 2 - T, Male Singing]
Sunday, coffee, bait and bread,
Mink Creek waiting up ahead.
My trailer wheel came off the rig,
Then found a fender it could fit.
Chewed the tire down to the steel,
An awful place to store a wheel.
Bearing gone and caliper scarred,
Apparently vacation's hard.
Matt brought the impact, we borrowed some nuts,
Limped to the ramp on mechanical trust.
My buddy brought a bearing down from Dickson that day,
We went fishing while help made its way.
Half an hour working and the rig rolled straight,
A lovely little service at a terrible rate.
I'd nearly had a trip with nothing bad to tell,
My trailer felt neglected, so it fixed that pretty well.
[Verse 3 - Mushy, Deep Male Singing]
Sweet Cheeks spent Saturday laid out,
My stomach had to sort things out.
They caught the fish, I kept the bed,
Made sure the ceiling stayed overhead.
Sunday I was back in form,
South Sauty waiting on a storm.
Four-pound largemouth, biggest caught,
A comeback worth the trip we'd bought.
I held her up for all to see,
Eleven couldn't look at me.
A tough crowd for a man that sick,
Thank goodness for the camera click.
My Oakleys left my hat somehow,
The lake looks better through 'em now.
One fish redeemed my whole weekend,
I'll mention it until this friendship ends.
[Verse 4 - Danielle "11", Female Singing]
I mixed up one mountain, they won't let it go,
Three men at a brake check, what a travel show.
They call me Eleven, and I earn it, that's fair,
But I wasn't leaving trailer pieces everywhere.
Matt handed me Willie's, cold from the ice,
T explained the THC after I'd tried it twice.
That little piece of knowledge would've helped me at the start,
Such a thoughtful bunch of gentlemen, bless their little hearts.
Laughing on the boat ride, happy as could be,
South Sauty hit the off switch somewhere inside me.
Thirty seconds later, not a word to say,
They finally got some peace and I lost half my day.
Sweet Cheeks wanted cheering for his four-pound prize,
I would've been delighted if I could've moved my eyes.
Three hours later, thunder joined me coming back around,
They'd prayed for peace and quiet; guess they got the wrong amount.
[Bridge - Matt, Male Singing]
Sunday gravel helped me exit my truck,
One leg slid and the other one stuck.
Jammed my wrist and fished through the ache,
Good thing I came down here for a break.
Storm sent us packing, burgers back home,
Angler's Retreat had earned its name alone.
Monday, no breakdown, no drama, no flat,
We didn't know quite what to make of that.
[Final Chorus - All Four Singing]
Other than that, we had a real good time,
Don't let the wreckage spoil the pretty shoreline.
Twelve quick keepers and a four-pound win,
Crop the picture close and we'd do it all again.
Crooked Hooker floating, everybody made it back,
A little less equipment and a little more to laugh at.
Guntersville, we love you, got the next trip on our minds,
We learned a lot that weekend...
Just nothing we'll apply.
